Caldera Dr Dos Iso
I need to do a clean install of Windows XP from from a supplied boot disk. The instructions found on the disk in files ReadMe.htm and SetupXP.htm say to enter the following commands at the prompt, and I get an error message as thus:Caldera DR-DOS 7.03Copyright (c) 1976, 1998 Caldera, Inc. All rights reserved.DR-DOS A: D:DR-DOS D: cd i386DR-DOS I386 winnt32This program cannot be run in DOS mode.I get the same error message if I try to enter 'setup' or 'autorun', etc. However, the setup program runs fine if the disk is loaded onto a running windows OS. I have a copy of the windows XP SP3 saved as a.iso file. Perhaps someone could suggest a different boot loader?I give up. I need to ask for help on this.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you all for your help. It is greatly appreciated.First of all I wish to install Windows XP Home on a 'Build your own' desktop that I am putting together. I was given an.iso copy of the MS OEM distribution of XP SP3 from a friend who does this for a living. However, he is out of the country at the moment and I can't get hold of him.
So, I wrote the OS to CD using one of the 'write bootable disk' functions from one of the several pgms that I have (I've forgotten which one I used) either Nero Express, ISO-Burner, etc. I will be booting from CD drive 'D:/'.If I load the CD to my other running machine the autorun.inf will run setup.exe without problem. My examination of the distribution is complete and correct. There are instructions in a Readme.htm file as described above, but it just won't boot as instructed!
So I need a correct boot loader and you have given me the info that I need to correct this.Although I also have OEM Distributions for all Windows 7 OS's on a flash drive using a Source Forge copy of unetbootin-windows-377.exe (»), I don't have any purchased license keys at the moment (running short on funds). Though, I do own a license for XP Home. So I will use that for now and upgrade latter.I will rewrite another CD using a proper boot loader as given above.
Thanks again. I have what I need to know now.
