Thank you Chillerguru. The starter is a UTCCBRS6B-300A-380-1, serial # 600178-2.We had three different problems:First of all, with the chiller running, the bypass contactors begun to open and close repeatedly. We stopped the machine, tested the contactors, tested the SCRs and found nothing. After mounting everything, we tried to start the chiller and the main circuit board (BIPCRS6BC) tripped the main circuit breaker, lighting the led 'short SCR'.
Hi,Can we have encrypted field in the org once we activate the “Data Encryption” like for SSN field?SQL field level encryption is available in 'Password for email' & 'Yammer Token' & can't be extended to other additional fields at this time.Steps to activate the Data EncryptionAfter the import is complete, activate data encryption. To activate data encryption, follow these steps. However, if the website is not configured for HTTP/SSL, use a tool that can be used to modify CRM database tables, such as Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio or theDeployment Web Service, open the configuration database (MSCRMCONFIG), in the DeploymentProperties table set DisableSSLCheckForEncryption to 1. We tested the SCRs again and nothing. Finally, when we try to start the chiller now, the voltage to the bypass contactors coils is already over 500V, and they close imediatedly. Benshaw is a Pittsburgh based company that sells soft starters, VFD drives and other electronis components through a distributer network and an increasing OEM business base. Carrier is just one of their OEM customers. The starters used on the Carrier chillers at my last understanding were based on the Benshaw RSD model using an inside the delta power wiring arrangement.
Caution must always be used with inside the delta wiring as line voltage is always applied to the motor windings. A deep vacum will cause a short arc to jump from the rotor to the stator in the motor, so it is always a good practice to make sure line power is removed from the motor starter prior to putting the unit in a deep vacuum. As far as your problem and a contact I would suggest Benshaw's excellent tech support at 412-487-8235 and ask for the tech support department. When connected be sure to tell the support person that you are working on a Carrier OEM unit. As far as a replacement for the starter, you got one of the best on the market that is custom designed for your chiller.
I would not try to re-invent the wheel and replace it with a product that would be similar or of less quality. No, I do not work for Benshaw! I do install and service their product as an OEM.

They have a website at with plenty of manuals on their standart and some OEM products. I've got some information from Benshaw's Technical Support that might be of some help for someone else. One of the first problems that I encountered with that soft-starter, was an indication of shorted SCR, with a tripped main circuit breaker, even though no shorted SCR were found. On Benshaw's Service Note #SN0035-00, it is said that this is caused by condensation on the PCBs, a situation that they were able to recreate in the lab.We have blowed the circuit boards with nitrogen and that problem was solved.
